Dear Colleagues,
On Saturday, February 26, 2022, Premier Kenney announced that the province will be moving to Step 2 in the lifting of public health actions on March 1. Step 2 includes lifting of the provincial mask mandate except in high-risk settings, including on public transit, at AHS-operated and contracted facilities and all continuing care settings.
This change in the provincial mask mandate will naturally lead to questions as to what it means for regulated members. For now, the current CCOA Pandemic Practice Directive still applies to all regulated members. The CCOA is adapting the directive and is meeting with Council this week to determine the next steps.
Please note that government announcements often precede changes to the CMOH orders so there is a lag between announcements and new orders. If your municipality or local government continues with masking requirements, it is your responsibility to be aware of the requirements and ensure that you are compliant even when they exceed the provincial requirements or the CCOA Pandemic Practice Directive.
We will continue to communicate changes in a timely manner. Expect an update post-Council meeting later this week.
Please contact the Registrar at registrar@theccoa.ca if you have any questions.
Best Regards,
