Council met June 16-17, 2022. Here is a summary of key items from that meeting:
Election of Officers and Committee appointments for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 (FY22-23)
Council elected its Chair and Vice Chair as follows:
- Chair - Dr. Brad Kane
- Vice Chair - Dr. Jason Hollingsworth
Given the transformative organizational changes of the last eighteen months, Council is grateful for Dr. Kane’s willingness to serve an additional year as Chair in the interests of continuity and knowledge transfer. This enables Council to intentionally engage in succession planning, which is essential for good governance.

Approval of the FY22-23 budget
At the recommendation of the Finance and Audit Committee, Council approved the proposed budget for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
Strategic Plan
Staff provided Council updates on the strategic plan work completed and planned to date. Council provided staff direction on additional information and knowledge development needed to support its future decision-making.
Regulatory Business
- Council approved changes to the structure of the Continuing Competence Committee to support the work of the strategic plan.
- Council approved the proposed Pandemic Practice Advisement to replace the Pandemic Practice Directive.
- Council approved the addition of two acupuncture programs to the list of approved programs recognized by Council and maintained in Administrative Policy 3.6 Recognized Acupuncture Programs.
- Council approved moving forward a proposed revision to Standard of Practice 6.2 Definition of a Patient, as recommended by the College’s legal counsel, to consultation with regulated members.
- Council approved several appointments related to the Continuing Competence Committee and professional conduct roles.
Legislative/Policy Business
Council received an update on the status of implementation of current legislative changes. Information on potential new legislative changes was also provided. Council approved several Bylaw and Administrative Policy amendments required by Bill 46, which were reported in the July Registrar’s Report.
